Feeling Broken?
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known. (1 Corinthians 13.12 NASV)
Have you ever broken a mirror and looked at your reflection in the many broken shards? Or have you ever looked through the windshield of your car when it was covered in ice? How about this, have you ever noticed the straw in your glass of water appears to be bent? While all these different reflections are varied, they have one thing in common, none are a true representation of the original that is being reflected. Each represents a small part of the whole.
Do you ever feel that you are a broken part of a better whole? If only . . . I was married or married to a better spouse . . . then I would be . . . or when I get that promotion . . . then I’ll be able to . . .You get the idea. You feel that you are not your “whole” because there is a fragment missing. This is true but the missing fragment is NOT the job, the money, the feelings, the person ____. What’s missing is Jesus, the real Jesus.
We are living in a fallen world, everything we see and experience, even the great and wonderful things are only a dim representation. One day we will see Jesus face to face, then we will fully know. In the meantime, let’s do our best to represent the One who lives inside us to the rest of the world. Let’s grow our faith, encourage hope but most importantly reflect His love.
Prayer
Lord, fill my broken, fragmented pieces with your love. Even though I can’t fully and completely understand your infinite love for me I know that in you I am whole. Help me, Jesus, reflect your love to others so that they’ll draw closer to You.
