Go in Peace
Don’t worry about what others think of you -- just keep your eyes on Jesus!
Luke tells us that a “sinful woman” (sleeping around? an adulteress? a prostitute?) had heard that Jesus was in town. She was so grateful for His words and kind actions, she braved going into the religious leader’s house (can you imagine the looks she received and the mean words when she walked in?), and went straight to Jesus.
Standing behind Jesus she sobbed, then knelt down and let her tears wash His feet, anointed Him with expensive ointment, and dried them with her *hair*. In their society a servant should have already cleaned Jesus' feet, the religious leaders had not so honored Him.
The religious leaders sneered-- “Didn’t He know who was touching Him?”--but Jesus rebuked them. Yes, she had sinned much, but turning to Jesus she was also forgiven much. She had love Him much, and they had loved Him little. He sent her away saying, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace,” (Lk 7:50).
Are you ever overwhelmed by your imperfections, your failures, your sin? Be at peace! Jesus loves you just as you are. Come to Him and find forgiveness and peace!
***A Prayer: Lord, thank You for loving me. Thank You, for forgiving me. Help me to live in Your love and peace, help me to let go of the past and accept Your forgiveness. Guide me on new paths and lead me into a life of peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
