Are you sure about that?

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11.1

What color is a sunny sky at noon, a well-watered lawn, and a Fuji apple? Did you say blue, green, and red respectively? Are you sure? I learned, on my first day of color theory class that scientifically, color does not exist! Ridiculous—I can see color all around me. But try explaining color to a person born blind? Have you ever loved a color at the store then hated it when you got home and saw it in a different light? This is a very hard concept to wrap our brain around, isn’t it? We feel sure that color exists because, well, we can see it.

What about things we cannot see? An iceberg is enormously larger underwater where it’s unseen. We won’t jump out of a plane without a parachute because we are sure that gravity exists though we cannot see it.

How about faith, hope, and the existence of God and His promises to us in the Bible. Are they as real as gravity? Yes, they are! How can I be so sure? Aside from real archeological, historical, and scientific proof of the Bible, there is countless firsthand testimony of people who will tell you their personal experiences. Not convinced? If you are adamant about denying God, there is nothing anyone can tell you to change your stubborn mind because it also takes something we cannot see, faith. However, even if you doubt, take the slightest sliver of faith and ask God to reveal Himself to you. He promises that He will!
