I was inspired by the story about Emperor Constantine’s dream on the night before a fateful battle in 312 AD. Constantine dreamt he saw a cross, perhaps a version of the Chi-Rho (the first two letters of the Greek word for Christ – Chi (X) and Rho (P). The Latin phrase “in hoc signo vinces” can be translated as, “In this sign, you will conquer.” Constantine’s army won the battle, marking the end of Christian persecution and resulting in Christianity becoming a recognized religion of the Roman Empire. Also seen in this piece is the Greek word NIKA for victory.
