Precious Tears

Many parents keep mementos of their children—perhaps a special art project, a favored toy, or valued photos. We do it to preserve a special moment or memory. Years later when we stumble on that forgotten shoebox in the attic we reminisce with warm hearts.

In a similar fashion, God keeps mementos of His children—our tears! Why? First, it’s not a literal bottle full of salty tears, it’s a metaphor to let us know that He is aware of our sufferings, and He records them (Psalm 56.8). It sounds odd to keep mementos of bad memories. But think about it. We only keep the things that are most precious to us. God does not overlook our pain He does not forget our sorrows. Our tears are not shed in vain. God knows us intimately, and every tear we shed is meaningful and recorded as if He kept each tear literally in a bottle.

And one day, “He will wipe every tear from [our] eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things [will] passed away”

A Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for seeing me. You know my ups and my downs. I know that when I suffer you suffer along with me and one day every wrong in this dark world will be made right. Thank you for caring and loving me. Help me endure. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
