Do I seek the approval of people or God?

If no one saw: Would you put something in the offering plate? Raise your hands when worshipping? Clean up the church? Take someone a meal? Would you do it if only God knew?

Some time ago, I had an opportunity to serve Christ and for almost a year it required a daily sacrifice of my time and effort. Sometimes, it was hard. One day, I felt God say to me: “Will you do it if no one ever knows?” For a moment I caught my breath—could I do this if it was just between God and I? I breathed out my, “Yes.”

Can I encourage you to serve Christ and love others in (unconditional, self-sacrificial, making no distinction between different types of people) Agape love *even* when it’s difficult? Most especially when no one sees except God? If you have done this before, would you consider living and loving radically again? (I hope that you say, “Yes”! This broken world needs Christ!)

Lord, thank You for all of the people who have given of themselves to bless me. Please give me some way to serve You by blessing other people. Heal me from any need to have the praise of people and to only care that You are pleased with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
