Pause
So much of my time is a torrent of busyness, activities, and urgency. Even in my retirement, I find that now because I have the time to do many things; I choose many things. I often over plan and become exhausted. There is still the temptation to fill my day. I challenge myself to live out Jesus on steroids even though that is an impossibility, counterproductive and paradoxical.
The expectations I put on myself far exceed the expectations of God. God simply calls me to live like Jesus. Jesus lived simply in a way that balanced activity and holiness – doing and being. Solitude – being still with God alone . . . is the way I can be more attentive to His presence amid all of life.
I invite the presence of His Presence and encourage you to:
- Stop long enough to have moments and seasons to pause, to feel the gaze of God upon you.
- Learn how to make the necessary course corrections. Learn to feel His pleasure once again.
- He adopted you into love, not into business, learn to hear His voice.
Finally, to wait on the Lord Let Him restock your empty shelves, and remember to drink from the Living Water often.
Prayer: Lord, help me take the time to sit at your feet and reflect on Your goodness. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
